This is the most famous pathway in Dalhousie. GaramSadak is one of the two roads criss-crossing to the Gandhi Chowk and SubhashChowk or SubhashBowli. This is a beautiful pathway with greenery on both sides. The passage is completely lined with tall tress but allows enough daylight to pass through.

The name ‘GaramSadak’ literally means ‘warm path’. The name is so because of the warm and snug temperature here, unlike the other parts of Dalhousie or the whole Himachal Valley. The reason behind this contrasting climate especially in the GaramSadak is that it receives the direct sun-rays which is enough not only for the daytime, but the whole day.

In Hinduism Chamunda is the name of the supreme Mother Goddess. The name is the combination of ‘Chanda’ and ‘Munda’, the two demons that the goddess killed. Experts say that the name so comes from the fact that this Goddess was worshipped by the early ‘Munda’ tribe people of the Vindhya Range of Central India. These tribals used to offer the goddess absurd things like beheaded bodies, skulls and blood of human beings as offerings. The offering of liquor was also very common. These methods of worship are still used in ‘tantravidya’ or black magic rituals. The Goddess is fierce due to her association with Rudra, the fierce avatar of Lord Shiva
